About us
STYX Film Encounters is a new initiative to foster film education and appreciation through curated film screenings.
Cinema, as we’ve known it – a communal space where people gather to share the experience of film – is at risk of fading away.
Like the mythical river, STYX aims to transport us back to the cinematic past, where many great films still live. Through carefully curated screenings from the world’s cinematic heritage, we aim to create accessible, inclusive spaces where people can gather and engage with cinema on a deeper level.
At STYX, we believe that films can act as vessels, guiding us through uncharted territories and helping us discover more about ourselves and the world around us.
The classics don’t necessarily need to stay in the past. Cinema has a rich history of pushing boundaries, provoking thought, and exploring truths about human nature reflecting the times. The truths discovered are not far off from today’s, and we believe they deserve to be shown in their full potential, on the communal spaces and on the big screen where they were meant to be seen.
