Belle de Jour

Séverine Serizy, a young housewife, loses interest in sharing physical intimacy with her husband. In an attempt to bring excitement to her life, she joins a high-class brothel.

Based on the 1928 novel by Joseph Kessel, the film stars Catherine Deneuve in a role unlike any. One of Luis Buñuel’s most critically acclaimed and commercial successes, Belle de Jour’s commentary and critique remains as relevant today as it did upon its release in 1967.
